Steps To Follow In Order To Find The Electronic Components Supplier

Selecting the right electronic supplier is the foremost step to ensure that you get quality electronic components. Whether it is new or obsolete and discontinued electronic components, if you want to buy any component when the need arises, you should look for the suppliers that supply hard to find, long lead time electronic components.

Always be careful and never purchase counterfeit parts or any of the damaged components. For the long term sustenance of the components, it is necessary to go for the right vendor. Doing proper research about the technical knowledge, marketing, customer support system, product range and other factors should be considered before choosing your dealer.

The suppliers you decide on should be authenticated and certified to do this business. Fraudulent firms providing counterfeit products should be avoided. If the products turned out to be fake rather than genuine original products could create some serious problems later.

Next thing to keep in mind is the timely delivery. If the product arrives too late then it's of no use. So the suppliers which can provide you products under the agreed time have the potential to make the successful business partnership.

And the price of the components should be the standard ongoing market price. However if you are getting exceptional services with extra bucks and if they are within your budget, then paying more is totally worth it.

Next one is the component testing. The components have to be checked time to time for defects and flaws. All these steps are crucial to find the suitable components supplier. This way you don't have to worry about fake or defective pieces reaching you.

And the parts which have now become out of date can be difficult to find. So the dealer which can provide you any component in timely manner is the one you should prioritize even if you have to pay extra than the normal fees charged.

How to Test the Basic Electronic Components?

PCB, printed circuit board, is composed of variety of basic electronic components including capacitors, resistors, diodes, transistors and fuses. If any one of the component fails, the PCB may fail. Therefore, after buying electronic component from distributor, it’s important that each component be monitored and tested so that the performance is not hindered.

You may need a test gear for testing the components. The most suitable item of test gear is Multimeter. This can test almost 90% of all components.

Before you measure any component, you need to know what you are checking. If you are measuring voltage, select the AC range or DC range. If you are measuring resistance, select the Ohms range (x1 to x10k). If you are measuring current, select the appropriate current range DCmA 0.5mA to500mA.

You must select a voltage or current range that is higher than the maximum expected value, to avoid the needle swinging across the scale and hitting the end stop.

Reading 4-Band Resistors

Commonly the resistor has 4 bands and is called 10% resistor. Before testing a resistor, find the accurate reading for the specific resistor. Then connect the multimeter leads to specific resistor and then run a test. If the results are too high, this may indicate an open resistor or a resistor that has acquired a higher value.

Testing a Capacitor

One end of the capacitor should be removed from the circuit. The power supply to the capacitor should match the range of the capacitor so as not to overload the device. The possible outcomes can be the capacitor can short the meter that will reflect the output voltage of the power supply; if the capacitor is leaking, the meter reading will fluctuate, if the meter registers no jump at all, the capacitance is too low to register a result.

Testing a Diode

Disconnect one end of the diode from the circuit board and use an analog meter, identify the red and black meter probes. Set the meter between 1 and 10 ohms, connect the black probe to the cathode and the red probe to the anode. If the meter registers two readings, the diode may be leaky. If the meter registers some resistance, then the diode is forward biased.

To get the maximum performance, proper testing procedure should be followed along with the precautions.

Things You Need To Know About Active and Passive Components

The electrical components are of two types - active and passive. The component which is used for power gain is active component and the one which uses the energy is passive component. Electronic circuits needs active components in order to function.

Components that utilize the power instead of delivering it is passive component. They depend on active components to function as they cannot control the current flow on their own. Passive components can multiply the signal by values that are less than one.

They can however reserve energy for the later use when there is a need to release energy  and are used to filter the signals and have the ability to oscillate them. Some of the Active components are as follows:

Diodes: It is a pn junction that conducts the current in single direction only. They require some energy source to perform operation. If the reverse voltage is high enough then they can also create a reverse current.

BJT Transistors: These are Bipolar Junction Transistors. They have two pn junctions and operate in four modes. Both holes and electrons are carriers in the transistor structure.

Digital integrated circuits: These integrated circuits have digital pluses and could be multi-million component computer to simple counters.

Displays: They are used to display the output to the user.

Passive components do not require external energy, some of the passive components are as follows:

Resistors: They are used to create resistance in the current flow.

Potentiometer: They are used to create variable resistance which can be changed with a tap.

Capacitors: The energy can be stored in the electric field through capacitors.

Connectors: To connect different parts of the circuit for the signals, we use connectors.

Relay: It is a switch which can be turned on and off using an electromagnet.

If you want to buy passive components, consults the dealers in your area which can provide you high end products that satisfy your requirements.

Types of Electronic Passive Components That Are Used

Electronic components are categorized in two categories active and passive components. Components which make the energy in the form of voltage are called active components and components which stores the energy in the form of voltage are called passive components.

Electrical Passive Components in an electrical system do not need any electrical power in order to operate. They are incapable of power gain. Some of the different sorts of components include fixed resistors, capacitors, surge protection components and inductors.

These kinds of components do not amplify the power of the signal. Though, it is possible for the passive components to boost voltage or current through an LC circuit that stores electrical energy. Generally, there are two type of passive components - lossless and dissipative.

Dissipative —These components are not capable of absorbing power from external circuits over time.

Lossless — these components do not have a net power flow into the component. Some of the common examples include inductors, oscillators, capacitors and transformers.

What Types of Passive Components Exist?

The gamut of passive components when it comes to their function and form in different devices, and there are many types out there:

Capacitors — a capacitor is a component that can actually accumulate and hold a charge in a way that is similar to the work of a battery. It can hold the charge even in the absence of the voltage.

Fixed Resistors — Fixed resistor is a part of an electrical circuit. The resistor helps to reduce the flow of current through the circuit. Resistors come in two different types -  variable and fixed. The fixed resistors have a predetermined value and are unable to change.

Inductors — Inductors store energy within their magnetic field and provide the circuit with that energy when it needs it. They have a cylindrical core having a number of coils of conducting wire around it.

If you want to buy Electrical Passive Components then make sure to check out the catalogue of the industry leading manufacturers.
